British classical trumpeter, conductor, and Professor of Trumpet. Died 11 November 2016.
He was a member of the National Youth Orchestra Of Great Britain and studied trumpet and conducting at the Royal Scottish Academy Of Music And Drama. Before joining the London Symphony Orchestra (1963-1978), he was a member of the City Of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and was also a member of the London Brass Virtuosi. He was Professor of Trumpet at Homerton College. He founded the Anglia Brass Academy in 1993. He was the Musical Director and Conductor of the Colchester Youth Chamber Orchestra from 1984. Latterly he devoted most of his time to teaching, freelancing, solo work and conducting.
