Bassoonist

A native of Seattle, Mr. Grainger began studying the bassoon at 13. He attended the University of Washington and, after completing his studies there in 1978, joined the Seattle Symphony as second bassoon, a position he held until then-music director Georg Solti appointed him to the CSO in 1986.
