Alverson was born in Atlanta, Georgia, and his first Elvis concert was the November 14, 1971, Tuscaloosa, AL show. Between 1971 and 1977 Alverson took close to 2,800 photos of Elvis.
He also photographed plenty of other entertainers including Neil Diamond, Bruce Springsteen, Waylon Jennings, Ronnie Milsap, Ricky Nelson, Stevie Nicks, Tom Jones and Elton John.
