Oboist, pianist and conductor, born 24 October 1931 in Detroit, Michigan, died 9 May 2001 in New York, New York.

Freelance musician, served as principal oboist for ensembles such as the American Symphony Orchestra, the Brooklyn Philharmonic Orchestra and the New York City Opera Orchestra. Schuman was also a music teacher, longtime music director of New York's Washington Square Festival, and worked with many orchestras around the world either as musician or conductor.
