Fats Waller once said: If you don't know what Jazz is you ain't got it! Well,
even if you don't have it yet we trust you are going to find it right here. The occasion
was a jazz concert recorded live at the Barbican Theatre in the City Of London
by the Kenny Ball Jazzmen plus guests. It's theme: Jazz Classics.

To represent the varying styles in a century of jazz, our guest stars were
drawn from across the jazz spectrum. Bringing together diverse jazz styles and
personalities would, it was hoped, add that extra something. We ended up with
a something we hadn't quite bargained for: not just a potted history of jazz, but
a live performance that in itself has established a tiny slice of British jazz history.
