All the pieces were recorded in Dec.75 or Jan.76, and are heard as played:
A1 and A2 were recorded at Tom Newman's barge (Argonaut Studio).
A1 uses two guitars simultaneously - an Ormston-Burns Black Bison, and a Gibson 345. Both are fitted with an extra pick-up mounted above the first fret, which, together with a contact microphone, an ambience microphone and slow echo repeat, makes a total of 9 separate tracks at once.
A2 was played on the Gibson.
On A3 the guitar, a Burns TR 2, was treated with crocodile clips, crome pipe and a loudspeaker from the output of the main amp on the strings. The instrument was tuned BEAGBE, and the main loudspeaker was facing a piano frame. The recording was done on a Revox and cleaned up at Tom Newman's studio.
B1, B2 and B3 were played on a home-made guitar (one neck of it pointing to the left, one to the right).
The guitar on B4, B5 and B6 was an Epiphone Blackstone Acoustic.
For patience and generosity thanks to Tom, and Nick Mason, in whose studio the whole thing was finally put together.
