Decca's history is closely linked to the history of sound recording and the artistic perfectionism of its sound engineers. The constant search for the ultimate Decca sound produced an outstanding recording quality that is still remembered today. What began with The Decca Sound and The Decca Sound: The Analogue Years and celebrated impressive successes is now completed with the last part of the trilogy. The Decca Sound: The Mono Years is released as a strictly limited and numbered 6-LP box set.
The musical focus is on legendary mono recordings of instrumental and orchestral music from the years 1944-1956. The so-called mono era is characterized by the Full Frequency Range Recording recording process developed by Decca, which represents the first step towards the HiFi technology that we take for granted today.
The works include world-famous classics such as Beethoven's 6th Symphony, recorded under the direction of Erich Kleiber, and other legendary recordings by Nelsova, Martinon and Ansermet's recording of Stravinsky's Petrushka, which was released as the first Decca LP in 1950.
The Decca Sound: The Mono Years - now available pressed on 180g vinyl, with original covers on each sleeve.
